Hydraulic & Hydrologic Engineering
Following the flow of water.
Hydrology is the study of the water. From an engineering perspective we want to understand how water moves along the surface, the amounts and rate. Hydraulics is the study of how fluids move along an enclosed (think of piping) or open surface (for instance rivers and channels).
DES can provide you services in these areas to understand the amount and rate of water along your project site. Based on the water amount and rates, we design drainage components or water storage features for your project. We provide engineering design in sizing of culverts, earthen swales, riprap swales, inlet/outlet protection, drop inlets, curb and gutter, earthen dams, and retention/detention systems.
Helping you with site plan design.
Clients who want to develop residential or commercials sites are to consider the methods of handling drainage across their property. Site improvements create impermeable surfaces (e.g. asphalt, concrete) that quickly increase the amount of runoff. DES can assist you with modeling of overall site improvements, design of grades to collect water and directing it towards retention/detention systems.
We help in improving drainage.
Many times drainage of water was not considered during site development or improvements. Standing water, undersized culverts, flat grades, erosion are some symptoms. We can provide you our services to improve drainage and properly handle water on your site.
